WACO, Texas— Ohio University tight ends coach Brian Metz has been named an American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) 35 Under 35 honoree, as announced by the AFCA today (Dec. 6).

THE AFCA 35 Under 35 Coaches' Leadership Institute is a program created to train premier, future leadership in the football coaching profession. Selected participants are invited to attend the one-day program, which features a curriculum of interactive lectures specifically tailored to emphasize leadership in the coaching profession, ethics, influential responsibilities, career progression and family balance.

The 2021 season marked Metz's second season as the Ohio football program's tight ends coach. Prior to his current position, Metz was an intern from 2013-14 and an offensive graduate assistant from 2016-18. Filling in the gaps between his stints in Athens, he spent the 2015 season as an offensive intern with the Tigers and 2019 as a graduate assistant at UNLV.
