ATHENS, Ohio -- The Ohio swimming & diving team (0-4, 0-2 MAC) returns to conference competition on Saturday (Feb. 18) as it visits Amherst, N.Y., to take on Mid-American Conference foe Buffalo (1-2, 1-1 MAC) in an 11 a.m. ET meet at the Alumni Arena Pool and Natatorium. The Bobcats will be back in the pool for competition for the first time since late November when they placed eighth at the Ohio State Fall Open Invitational in Columbus.
Saturday's meet will mark Ohio's third MAC dual of the 2019-20 season and first since the Bobcats lost to then-No. 19-ranked Akron, 182-116, on Nov. 9 in Athens. The Bobcats notched four first-place finishes against the Zips, with junior Samantha Glass (Villa Hills, Ky.) taking first in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:04.63, freshman McKenzie Grau (Mason, Ohio) winning the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:05.84, junior Katherine Garrity (Eagan, Minn.) winning the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:23.94 and sophomore Madison Haschemeyer (Springfield, Ill.) producing a first-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle by clocking a 1:54.97. Grau also took second in the 100-yard freestyle in 51.78 and finished as the runner-up in the 50-yard freestyle in 24.19 and was named MAC Swimmer of the Week for the first time in her career for her efforts.
The Bobcats will be battling the Bulls in dual competition for the first time since Nov. 4, 2017. Buffalo split its first two MAC duals, defeating Ball State at home by a score of 197-103 on Oct. 26 but falling to Miami on the road on Nov. 2, 151.5-148.5.
After taking on the Buffalo, Ohio will be back at home at the Ohio University Aquatic Center next Saturday (Jan. 25) as it hosts MAC foe Ball State at 1 p.m. ET.
