NORFOLK, Va. â€" The Ohio wrestling team (7-6, 4-4) falls to Old Dominion, 18-18, on criteria based on total points after each team took five matches on Friday (Feb. 10) on the road in its final Mid-American Conference match of the season. The Monarchs scored 68 points to the 67 scored by the Bobcats as Ohio lost its first road dual of the season.
125 â€" Shakur Laney v. Steven Simpson
Sophomore Shakur Laney (Canal Winchester. Ohio) dominated Steven Simpson. Laney led 6-0 after two periods and took the match 11-2 by major decision. Laney scored takedowns in all three periods.
133 â€" Cameron Kelly v. Alex Madrigal
Sophomore Cameron Kelly (Bellbrook, Ohio) continued off Laney’s hot start. Kelly started out the match with Madrigal leading 8-1 after the first period. Kelly landed a takedown and six near-fall points in the second to end the match by technical fall (16-1).
141 â€" Noah Forrider v. Kevin Budock
Redshirt junior Noah Forrider (Marysville, Ohio) scored takedowns across all periods against Budock en route to a 14-7 decision victory. Budock pulled with two points after the second period trailing 9-7, but Forrider shut him out in the third scoring a takedown and six near-fall points in the third.
149 â€" Kyle Kaminski v. Michael Hayes
Redshirt freshman Kyle Kaminski (Parma, Ohio) fell to Hayes by major decision (12-1) as Kaminski was outscored 12-1 across the final two periods of action.
157 â€" Cullen Cummings v. Larry Early
Redshirt junior Cullen Cummings (Woodridge, Ill.) trailed Early just 2-1 after two. However, Early would go on to take the match by a 7-3 decision after outscoring Cummings 5-2 in the final frame.
165 â€" Austin Reese v. Seldon Wright
Redshirt sophomore Austin Reese (Urbana, Ohio) took on Wright in the tightest scoring match of the night. Reese led 1-0 while riding out the second period. Wright scored a takedown in the third, but Reese still led riding time to force sudden victory. Wright scored a takedown in sudden victory to take the match by a 4-2 decision.
174 â€" Arsen Ashughyan v. Antonio Agee
Redshirt sophomore Arsen Ashughyan (Vanadzor, Armenia) trailed Agee 5-4 heading into the final frame. Ashughyan would go on to shutout Agee in the third 5-0 to come back and take the match by a 9-5 decision.
184 â€" Dontae McGee v. Jack Dechow
In the same as the match at 157, redshirt freshman Dontae McGee (Marion, Ohio) trailed Dechow 2-1 after the second period. Dechow outscored McGee 11-2 in the final frame to take the match by major decision (13-3).
197 â€" Bailey Faust v. Kevin Beazley
Redshirt freshman Bailey Faust (Lexington, Ohio) could not overcome an 8-3 first period deficit falling to Beazley by major decision 14-4.
285 â€" Zack Parker v. Will Hilliard
Ohio trailed by three points heading into the final match of the night with redshirt sophomore Zack Parker (Felton, Del.) taking on Will Hilliard. Parker scored a takedown and two escapes en route to the 4-3 decision victory to tie the score at 18-18. However Old Dominion would take the match on total points scored 68-67 since each team won five matches.
