YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio â Ohio track and field competed in a 21-team invitational today (Jan. 20) hosted by Youngstown State University in their home indoor facility, the Watson and Tressel Training Site (WATTS). The Bobcats secured a total of six top-five finishes over four events; 4x400 relay, high jump, weight throw and shot put.
The Bobcats saw competitors from Ashland, Cedarville, Charleston, Clarion, Geneva, Lake Erie, Northern Kentucky, Notre Dame, Ohio Dominican, Malone, Pittsburgh, Pitt-Johnston, Point Park, Robert Morris, Slippery Rock, Walsh, Wheeling Jesuit, and Youngstown.

RUNNING EVENTS
Ohio began competing in the mile where sophomore Madison Sury (Waterford, Ohio) finished first for the Bobcats and 11th overall with a time of 5:11.14. Freshman Abby Miller (Mansfield, Ohio) followed placing 16th with a 5:17.38 time. Sophomore Josie Woosley (Pataskala, Ohio) and seniors Tara Tollet (Shadyside, Ohio) and Peyton Adkins (Gallipolis, Ohio) also scored for Ohio placing 21st (5:24.57), 31st (5:34.70) and 34th (5:41.99), respectively.
Next, in the 400-meter, sophomore Emily Deering finished 8th clocking in in 59.33 seconds with sophomores Erin Stewart (Chardon, Ohio) and Gracie Huffman (Pleasant Hill, Ohio) and freshmen Marissa Handel (Highland Heights, Ohio) and Tajah Haley (Washington, Pa.) all placing in the top 25. Stewart finished 9th in 59.40, Huffman finished 10th in 59.44, Handel finished 14th in 1:00.27 and Haley finished 22nd in 1:01.36.
Junior Kaitlyn Logan (Granville, Ohio) placed eighth in the 800-meter with a time of 2:21.49. Sophomore Rebekah Markovitz (Columbia, Md.) was next in for the âCats placing 14th with a 2:21.76 time. Freshman Melissa Koziol (Burton, Ohio), junior Jennifer Fockler (Canton, Ohio) and Woosley were the next scorers placing 20th (2:27.94), 23rd (2:28.55) and 24th (2:28.55), respectively.
In the 200-meter dash, junior Courtney Guiley (Louisville, Ohio) placed first for Ohioâs runners finishing 30th with a 27.16 second time, while senior Adrianna Mauzy (Athens, Ohio) placed 33rd with a 27.27 time.
The Bobcats recorded three runners in the top-20 in the 3K. Freshman Tiffany Hill (Dublin, Ohio) placed 11th with an 11:07.82 time, freshman Delaney Geitgey (Plain City, Ohio) placed 14th with an 11:16.20 time and junior Mary Richardson (Newark, Ohio) placed 17th with an 11:27.74 time.
Ohioâs âAâ team for the 4x400 consisting of Deering, Handel, Stewart and Huffman placed third with a 3:59.10 time. Freshmen Keilah Causey (Gahanna, Ohio), Haley, Jewel Henderson (Columbus, Ohio) and Markovitz placed 11th for the âBâ team, clocking in at 4:12.14.
FIELD EVENTS
The first field event was the high jump where senior Taylor Smith (Canal Winchester, Ohio) placed fifth jumping 1.55m (5â01â). Sophomore Avery Kerns (Galena, Ohio) scored next for the âCats in 10th also reaching 1.55m. Freshmen Hannah Bush (Middletown, Ohio) placed 13th jumping 1.50m (4â11â) and Atiya Spaulding (Chesapeake, Ohio) placed 24th jumping 1.45m (4â09â).
Ohio secured five, top-15 finishes in the weight throws this afternoon. Sophomore Gaza Odunaiya (Athens, Ohio) placed third throwing a distance of 16.40m (53â09.75â), senior Emma Ryan (Vincent, Ohio) placed fourth with a throw of 16.27m (53â04.5â), junior Cassidy Cleland (Reedsville, Ohio) placed fifth with a throw of 15.25m (50â) and junior Jordan Porter (South Point, Ohio) finished 11th with a throw of 14.49m (47â06.5â).
Porter finished second in shot put with a throw of 13.59m (44â07â). Spaulding also placed in the top-25 securing the 24th spot throwing 10.54m (34â07â).
In the triple jump, Causey recorded a 15th place finish reaching 10.32m (33â03.25â).

The Bobcats will next compete in Huntington, W. Va. at the Thundering Herd Open from Jan. 27-28.
