THE BASICS
The Ohio baseball team (17-12, 5-4 MAC) completed a Mid-American Conference weekend series sweep over East Division rival Buffalo (7-17, 2-7 MAC) with a pair of 5-3 wins in a Sunday (April 5) doubleheader at Kelly Automotive Park in Butler, Pa.

The Bobcats recorded their first league series sweep since 2012 at Akron.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Ohio pounded out at least 10 hits for the 16th time in 2015. Eight of Ohio's nine starters recorded a hit.
- Sophomore Ty Black (Waynesville, Ohio) led the way at the plate with a double and a single and drove in two runs.
- Junior right-handed starting pitcher Connor Sitz (Westerville, Ohio) struck out seven over 5.2 frames. He allowed three earned runs on six hits and a walk.
- Senior right-handed reliever Logan Cozart (New Philadelphia, Ohio) earned the mound triumph to improve to 3-1 on the season, fanning four over three scoreless innings. He allowed a hit and a walk.
- The Bulls took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning, but Ohio tied the contest up in the third when sophomore Mitch Longo (Mayfield, Ohio) reached on an error with two outs and scored on a triple to left center by senior Jake Madsen (Cincinnati, Ohio).
- Buffalo took 3-1 lead in the sixth. Ohio cut the Bulls' advantage to one run in the seventh when Black smacked a leadoff single to left center and later scored on a sacrifice RBI ground out by Longo.
- The Bobcats took command of the contest with a three-run top of the ninth. Redshirt sophomore Nate Squires (Plain City, Ohio) hit a leadoff pinch-hit single to right. Black sent a double down the left field line. Junior Manny De Jesus (Caguas, P.R.) drove both home with a double to left field. De Jesus scored Ohio's fifth run on a base hit by Longo.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Three Bobcats posted multi-hit efforts, with De Jesus leading the way with three hits. He scored a run and drew a walk. Madsen went 2-for-3 with a double, two RBI, two runs scored and a walk. Senior Tyler Wells (Lexington, Ky.) tallied two hits, drove in a run and scored another. 
- Sophomore right-handed starting pitcher Jake Rudnicki (Toledo, Ohio) threw five scoreless innings and struck out four. He gave up four hits and two walks. Rudnicki picked up the pitching victory to improve to 2-2 on the season.
- Sophomore Corey Wells (Lexington, Ky.) earned his first save of the season, fanning one in 2.2 innings of work. He gave up one earned run on three hits and two walks.
- The Bobcats grabbed a 1-0 lead in the top of the fourth when Madsen drew a one-out walk and scored one out later on a single to left by Tyler Wells.
- Ohio tacked on two more runs in the sixth. Longo drew a leadoff walk and scored on a double to left center by Madsen. Madsen then scored on a throwing error that put redshirt junior Cody Gaertner (Pittsburgh, Pa.) on base.
- The Bobcats added two more runs in the seventh and the eighth. De Jesus sent a leadoff single into center and later scored on a base hit by Madsen in the seventh. The eighth inning saw Tyler Wells hit a leadoff double to left and scored one out later on a double to right center by Black.

UP NEXT
Ohio hits the road to battle rival Marshall in Huntington, W.Va., in a non-conference contest on Wednesday (April 8). First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m. ET. The Bobcats defeated the Thundering Herd, 11-8, last Wednesday (March 25) at Bob Wren Stadium in the first meeting of the season between the two squads.
