ATHENS, Ohio â€" Despite seven first-place finishes and four personal season-best times, the Ohio swimming and diving team fell to Mid-American Conference rivals, Miami, 172-126, on Saturday afternoon at the Ohio University Aquatics Center.
The Bobcat relays stole the show, with the 200-yard medley recording a time of 1:42.72 to claim first place and the 400-yard freestyle relay clocking in at 3:30.86, placing second.
Addison Ferguson (Westfield Center, Ohio) recorded a first-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 55.16, a season-best. Another first-place followed for Ferguson in the 100-yard Butterfly, where she recorded a time of 56:30. The junior also captured second-place in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:02.95.
In her final laps at the aquatics center, senior Tori Bagan (Roanoke, Ind.) claimed a first-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:02.56 as well as third-place in the 200-yard breaststroke, clocking in at 2:23.51.
Laura Dawson (Newcastle Upon Tyne, England) captured two first-place finishes on the day, recording a 2:04.38 in the 200-yard butterfly and a time of 2:00.23 in the 200-yard backstroke. The sophomore also earned second-place in the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:06.75.
Bianca Hauzer (Bedfordview, South Africa), recorded a personal season-best time of 5:02.95 in the 500-yard freestyle, earning a first-place finish for Ohio in the event. The redshirt junior also claimed second in the 1000-yard freestyle, recording a personal season-best time of 10:20.17.
Junior Haley Clark (College Station, Texas) earned two second-place finishes in the 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard freestyle, recording a personal season-best time of 24.16 and 52.61, respectively.
Sophomore Carrie Dukes (Monkton, MD.) claimed a second-place finish in the 100-yard butterfly, posting a time of 56.56
Freshman Elena Patz (Waunakee, WI.) posted a second-place finish in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:06.86.
Up Next
The Bobcats will travel north to Ypsilanti, Michigan to compete in the MAC Championships, hosted by Eastern Michigan. The competition will take place Feb. 26-28 and will run throughout the day on all three days.
