Final Stats

LOS ANGELES, Ca.-UCLA catcher Dani Yudin launched a grand slam to center in the fourth inning and the host Bruins never looked back, as they defeated visiting Ohio 9-1 in five innings Thursday at Easton Stadium in Los Angeles.

The win improved UCLA to 21-5, while Ohio dropped to 10-12.

Shortstop Kellie Fox also had a homer, as did designated player Alyssa Tiumalu, while center fielder Katie Schroeder joined the duo with two hits. Yudin's and Tiumalu's homers were in consecutive at bats, while Fox's two-run shot to right ended the game via the mercy rule.

The Bobcats, who were limited to two hits by UCLA starter Donna Kerr (8-1), got an RBI single up the middle in the fifth by shortstop Alexis Joseph for their only tally. Kerr also struck out six and walked two.

Ohio starter Melissa Bonner (1-2) took the loss after giving up eight runs on eight hits with one walk in four innings of work.

The Bobcats are back in action Saturday at Cal State Fullerton for a 3 p.m. ET contest with Canisius and a 5:30 p.m. date with the host Titans.
