Final Stats

GREENVILLE, S.C.-The Furman offense provided hurler Tyler Wood with seven runs but just one would be enough as the Paladins completed their second sweep of Ohio Baseball in as many years with a 7-0 victory Sunday afternoon at Latham Stadium.

Furman improved to 4-0 overall, while Ohio dropped to 0-4.

Wood (1-0) went eight innings and allowed just one hit and two walks with six strikeouts before reliever Drake Browne got the final three outs. Ohio starter Matt Robin (0-1) suffered the loss as allowed two runs on three hits with three strikeouts and six walks in four and two-thirds innings. Bobcat reliever Marck Paliotto had some success as he allowed a run on four hits with four strikeouts and no walks in the final two and one-third innings.

Paladin first baseman Aaron Thompkins had three hits and three RBIs and left fielder Will Owens scored three times. The lone Ohio hit came from first baseman Taylor Emody, who hit a team-best .400 this weekend.

Ohio yielded just two runs through the game's first five innings before Furman put up four in the sixth on a bases-loaded walk and a three-run triple down the right-field line by Thompkins. Third baseman Kevin O'Leary added a run-scoring single in the eighth for the final margin.

The Bobcats will face Lehigh and Lafayette out of the Patriot League, in addition to host Davidson at a tournament in North Carolina next weekend.
