Sho Katayama joined Ohio Athletics in August 2024 as the primary athletic trainer for the softball team. Previously, he acted as an athletic trainer for Ohio University’s 33 club sports.
Prior to Ohio, Katayama was an athletic trainer with the Cleveland Guardians as well as the Akron RubberDucks. He was responsible for setting up the training room for home games, assisting with administrative tasks such as inventory and physical exam paperwork, and performing pre and post game treatment for athletes.
Katayama earned his Master of Science in Athletic Training from Ohio University in 2023 and is currently working toward his Doctor of Athletic Training at Ohio University.
