Gavin Linkous brings a wealth of experience in athletic administration and event management, serving as the Assistant Athletics Director for Events and Sport Operations since April of 2022.
In his current position, Linkous manages game day operations for all 16 varsity sports as well as facility rentals. Linkous plans Mid-American Conference championships that are hosted on campus, and also manages a team of graduate assistants and undergraduate student employees for game day operations.
Previously, Linkous served as a graduate assistant for the Director of Athletics suite, where he assisted with daily administrative operations. Most notably, Linkous was the tournament director for the 2022 Mid-American Conference Wrestling Championship, an event that the Bobcats have the opportunity to host once a decade. Linkous oversaw the event from start to finish, from organizing facilities and securing partnerships to cover hospitality costs to ensuring compliance with branding standards at the school and conference levels.
Prior to joining Ohio University Athletics, Linkous gained valuable experience working with professional sports organizations such as the Cincinnati Bengals. Linkous served as the Jungle Zone Coordinator in 2021, overseeing fan engagement initiatives. Additionally, Linkous filled a variety of roles with Marietta College Athletics from 2019-21, including supervising intramural sports and directing in-game promotions. Linkous also interned for the Western & Southern Open in 2019, where he fostered strong relationships with partners, hosted special events, and contributed to community and fan engagement initiatives.
Linkous earned an MSA from the world-renowned Sports Administration Program in the College of Business in 2022. The Waynesville, Ohio native earned his undergraduate degree in Sports Management from Marietta College, where he was a member of the baseball team.
