YPSILANTI, Mich. – The Ohio volleyball team (10-7, 2-2 MAC) fell to Mid-American Conference foe Eastern Michigan (6-10. 1-3 MAC), 3-1 (26-28, 17-25, 25-18, 21-25), on Saturday evening (Oct. 5) inside the EMU Convocation Center. 

"EMU attacked well and our defense wasn't up to the challenge today," head coach Deane Webb said.  "It's something we will address in practice this week. We now turn our attention to Akron, the hottest team in the MAC right now.  They've just beaten Ball State, Bowling Green, and Miami, so we're looking forward to a great match when we go to their place next week."

Ohio had 57 kills as a team and two Bobcats totaled double-digit kills. Junior middle blocker Tia Jimerson (Sugar Hill, Ga.) ended the match with 18 kills while hitting .355, and junior opposite Maggie Nedoma (Brook Park, Ohio) also had 18 while hitting .275. 

The Bobcats had 58 total team digs. Junior libero Macy Reihing (Lexington, Ky.) had 17 digs for the Bobcats, while senior outside hitter Lizzie Stephens (Dallas, Texas) had 11 scoops. Nedoma produced her sixth double-double of the season when she had 10 digs. 

Junior setter Vera Giacomazzi (San Vendemiano, Italy) had 54 assists and nine digs. Ohio had 56 assists as a team as Reihing and Nedoma both had one. EMU had 55 total assists.

Ohio had eight total blocks, with Nedoma and graduate transfer Shayla Phillip (Columbia, S.C.) both recording four. Jimerson added three assisted blocks, while Giacomazzi had two. 

The Bobcats had eight aces. Stephens led the way with five, while Giacomazzi had two and Reihing added one. 

Ohio hit .211 as a team and hit a team-best .375 in the third set.

The Bobcats return to action on Friday, Oct. 11 when they head to Akron, Ohio to take on the Zips at 7 p.m. Ohio concludes the weekend on Saturday, Oct. 12 at Buffalo, with the match set to begin at 6 p.m.
