GREEN BAY, Wis. – The Ohio volleyball team (0-1) dropped its regular season opener to Fresno State (1-0), 3-1 (25-15, 25-16, 16-25, 28-26) on Friday afternoon in the Green Bay Invite.
Senior outside hitter Lizzie Stephens (Dallas, Texas) led the way for Ohio with 14 kills on 38 swings. Redshirt sophomore middle blocker/opposite Dahlias Bouyer (Brownstown, Mich.) recorded a career-high with 10 kills on a career-best .529 hitting percentage. Graduate transfer Shayla Phillip (Columbia, S.C.) had nine kills in her first match as a Bobcat.
Reihing led the way on the back line with 13 digs. Junior opposite Maggie Nedoma (Brook Park, Ohio) and Giacomazzi had eight scoops for Ohio while freshman outside hitter Olivia Margolies (Galena, Ohio) and senior defensive specialist Meredith Howe (Grand Rapids, Mich.) tallied three each.
Ohio had six team blocks, while Bouyer and senior outside hitter Sara Januszewski (Oak Creek, Wis.) posted three assisted blocks each. Phillip and Giacomazzi each had two blocks while Stephens posted one solo stuff.
Overall, OU had 48 kills and hit .209 on 129 attempts. Fresno State recorded 55 kills and hit .248. Ohio was outdug by the Bulldogs 51-44 and had one ace compared to FSU's five.
Ohio will continue the Green Bay Invite later tonight when they take on host Green Bay. First serve is set for 8 p.m. ET. The match will be streamed live on ESPN+.
