OXFORD, Ohio -- The No. 4-seeded Ohio volleyball team (16-14, 10-6 MAC) will take on No. 8-seeded Eastern Michigan (16-17, 7-9 MAC) in a 2017 Mid-American Conference Championship Second Round match on Friday (Nov. 17) at 4:30 p.m. ET at Millett Hall. The match will be streamed live on ESPN3. 'Voice of Ohio volleyball' Jake Hromada will have the call on OhioBobcats.com via StretchInternet's GameCentral.
The Eagles advanced to the second round by way of a 3-1 (25-20, 25-18, 24-26, 25-18) upset of No. 5-seeded Buffalo in first-round action on Thursday (Nov. 16).
Ohio is 34-7 (.829) all-time in 16 previous MAC Championship appearances. The Bobcats have won the league tournament crown nine times, with the last coming in 2015.
Ohio is 2-0 all-time in MAC Championship play against Eastern Michigan, posting a 3-2 (26-30, 30-18, 30-26, 29-31, 15-10) triumph in the 2006 quarterfinals and a 3-0 (25-15, 25-18, 25-19) sweep in the 2013 title match.
The Bobcats prevailed over the Eagles, 3-2 (25-23, 24-26, 25-19, 27-29, 15-13), on Oct. 7 at EMU's Convocation Center in the 2017 regular season meeting between the two squads.
The winner of Friday's showdown will face No. 1-seeded Miami (21-8, 13-3 MAC) in the 2017 MAC Championship Semifinals on Saturday (Nov. 18) at 4:30 p.m. ET.
