Molefi "Mo" Maat joined Ohio track and field as an assistant coach in July, 2024.
Maat comes to Ohio after spending almost a year as the assistant track and field coach at Austin Peay State University. While at Austin Peay State, he developed programs and coordinated the recruitment for athletes specializing in the sprints, hurdles, jumps, relay and multi events. Maat's coaching history also includes positions serving as an assistant coach at August University and head coach at the Memphis Mustangs Track Club.
Maat attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign as a member of the men's track & field program from 2014-2018 and earned a B.S. in Recreation, Sport and Tourism Management. Maat was a two-time NCAA qualifier, First Team All-American and Second-Team All-American for the 4x100m relay. He was also a six-time NCAA preliminaries qualifier for the 100m and 4x100m relay. Maat was a nine-time Big Ten finalist and three-time Big Ten medalist with two gold and one bronze.
