Ohio Track & Field Hosts Ohio Open

ATHENS, Ohio -- The Ohio track & field team saw four Mid-American Conference auto qualifiers at their final home meet of the season Friday at the Ohio Open. 

RS senior Emma Ryan auto-qualified for the MAC outdoor championships by winning the women's javelin with a distance of 157-7 while sophomore Tajah Haley also auto-qualified with a throw of 142-1. Ryan won the event while Haley finished third. 

Haley won the 100-meter hurdles clocking a time of 14.71. Senior Mya Hodge was second at 16.04. Haley was second in the high jump with a height of 5-1. Freshman Jessica Liechty won the high jump at 5-1. 

Junior Gaza Odunaiya auto-qualified in the women's hammer throw, winning the event with a throw of 185-6. Odunaiya also won the women's discus with a throw of 151-4 while senior Cassidy Cleland was second at 136-11. 

Senior Jordan Porter picked up the win in the women's shot put with a throw of 50-9.5 which was also a MAC auto-qualifier. Freshman Abby Moore was second in the event with a throw of 45-7.75. 

Junior Thelma Agyekum won the women's 100-meter run with a time of 12.35. Junior Callyn Voase was third in the 100 at 12.81. 

The Bobcats took the top three spots in the 200 with sophomore Marissa Handel winning at 25.38 followed by Agyekum at 25.89 and Hodge was third at 26.40. 

Handel also picked up the win in the 400 clocking a time of 58.42. 

Freshman Tate Dawson won the 800-meter run with a time of 2:46.43 while freshman Meredith Elstun was second at 2:46.45. 

In the 5K, Ohio seniors Christina Seas and Mary Richardson tied for the win at 20:05.26. 

Sophomore Keilah Causey won the triple and long jumps hitting 16-0.5 in the long jump and 35.3 in the triple jump. 

The Bobcats return to action at the MAC Outdoor Championships in Buffalo, N.Y. May 10-12.
