YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Ohio track and field team competed in their first meet of the New Year, the YSU Collegiate Invite, hosted by the Youngstown Penguins where the Bobcats walked away with eight top-10 finishes.

ON THE FIELD
The meet opened with the Bobcats in the seeded high jump, where sophomore Tana Barrett (Newark, Ohio) tied for seventh with a jump of 1.56m (5' 1.25") and sophomore Atiya Spaulding (Chesapeake, Ohio) tied for 11th also jumping a 1.56m (5' 1.25").
In the unseeded high jump, sophomore Tajah Haley (Washington, Pa.) tied for 10th with a jump of 1.46m (4' 9.5").
Junior Gaza Odunaiya (Athens, Ohio) placed sixth in the weight throw after her throw reaching 17.35m (56' 11.25") just ahead of freshman Abby Moore (Rootstown, Ohio) who threw a 15.61m (51' 2.75") to place ninth and junior Cassidy Cleland (Reedsville, Ohio) who threw a 13.88m (45' 6.50") to place 18th.
The next event was shot put where senior Jordan Porter (South Point, Ohio) placed fourth with a throw of 14.24m (46' 8.75"). Moore and Haley placed next with throws of 11.93m (39' 1.75") and 11.83m (38' 9.75").
In the long jump, sophomore Keilah Causey (Gahanna, Ohio) reached 4.53m (14' 10.50") and went on to compete in the triple jump where she reached 10.39m (34' 1.25").
ON THE TRACK
The running events were kicked off with the 5K where sophomore Tiffany Hill (Dublin, Ohio) placed second overall with a time of 18:16.87 just ahead of sophomore Melissa Koziol (Burton, Ohio) who posted a time of 19:17.71.
In the 60m dash, senior Courtney Guiley (Louisville, Ohio) finished first for the 'Cats with a time of 8.16. Freshman Olivia Brewer (Mount Gilead, Ohio) recorded a time of 8.19, senior Mya Hodge (Dublin, Ohio) recorded a time of 8.32, and junior Callyn Voase (Mentor, Ohio) recorded a time of 8.40.
In the qualifying 60m dash, freshman Abby Summers (Powell, Ohio) clocked in a time of 8.35 to finish sixth.
Junior Emily Deering (Geneva, Ohio) finished first for Ohio in the 400m dash with a time of 1:00.37 to place in the top-20. Sophomore Marissa Handel (Highland Heights, Ohio) placed next for the Bobcats with a time of 1:00.89.
In the 800m, senior Kaitlyn Logan (Granville, Ohio) recorded a time of 2:24.26 followed by freshman Melissa Barrett (Englewood, Ohio) at 2:26.83 and junior Rebekah Markovitz (Columbia, Md.) at 2:29.20.
In the 200m, junior Thelma Agyekum (Delaware, Ohio) posted a time of 27.39 just ahead of Deering at 27.76, Brewer at 28.33, Voase at 28.35, and Guiley at 28.71.
Sophomore Abby Miller (Mansfield, Ohio) placed fifth overall in the 3K with a time of 10:18.33. Junior Alyssa Atkinson (Granville, Ohio) rounded out the top-10 placing eighth with a time of 10:28.55. Freshman Hailey Bowes (Arlington Heights, Ill.) crossed the line next with a time of 10:50.65 just ahead of sophomore Emily Cass (Athens, Ohio) at 11:28.62.
The Bobcats concluded the YSU Collegiate Invite in the 4x400m relay where the team of junior Erin Stewart (Chardon, Ohio), Deering, Handel, and Agyekum finished with a time of 4:11.50.
The Bobcats will return to Huntington, W. Va. next weekend (Jan. 26-27) to compete at the Thundering Herd Open hosted by Marshall.
