Ohio Diving Kick Off 2019 Season At The Buffalo Diving Invitational

ATHENS, Ohio  Ohio diving kick off the 2019 portion of the season on Friday (Jan. 11) when they travel to Mid-American Conference foe territory, Buffalo, N.Y. to compete in the Unviversity of Buffalo Diving Invitational (Jan. 11-13) at Alumni Arena Natatorium. The Bobcats will compete against six other teams including: Buffalo, Canisius, St. Bonaventure, Niagara, Toledo and Colgate. Warm-ups will begin at 9 a.m. and will be followed by the preliminary rounds beginning at 11 a.m. with the finals beginning immediately after.

"We are excited to compete in a Diving only invitational this weekend in Buffalo," said first-year head coach Mason Norman. "The team has been making strides on and off the boards over the last few months. They will face solid competition this week similar to what they will see at the MAC Championship in February. We are beginning the phase of the season where each diver is preparing their list and competition line up in a prelims/finals format to best mimic the championship. I'm looking forward to seeing Coach Britni Fisher and the teams hard work pay off."

Ohio travels to Buffalo coming off a long winter training period. Ohio last touched the boards in the OSU Invitational where the Bobcats placed seventh overall.

"We are excited to head to Buffalo this weekend and see how we stack up against some other competitive MAC divers," stated first-year head diving coach Britni Fisher. "The girls have been training hard all season and they're definitely ready to compete."

Last season, the Bobcats traveled to Buffalo to compete in the three-day diving invitational where senior Nicole Hughes (Cleveland, Ohio) picked up a third-place finish in the one-meter dive with a score of 257.60. Junior Ryleigh Tuck-Macalla (Bay Village, Ohio) just missed the finals by placing 13th with a score of 192.50.
