ATHENS, Ohio - Ohio swimming and diving opens the 2017-18 season by hosting the annual Green and White intra-squad scrimmage.
"I feel like it was a good start to our season," head coach, Rachel Komisarz-Baugh said. "It was nice to see where the girls are, and we look forward to working with what we have and progressing from where we are now."
The first event was the 200-yard medley where the Bobcat team of freshmen Sam Glass (Villa Hills, Ky.) and Katelyn O'Brien (Williams Bay, Wis.), junior Emily Davis (Lexington, Ky.), and freshman Katie Garrity (Eagan, Minn.) as the anchor finished with a time of 1:08.29.
Sophomore Emilia Lahtinen (Ylojarvi, Finland) finished first in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:07.46.
In the 200-yard butterfly, Glass raced a time of 2:05.44 to take first just before sophomore Corrin Van Lanen (Green Bay, Wis.) took the win in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 23.57. Zimcosky then raced in the 100-yard freestyle and finished first with a time of 53.20.
Glass won the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:05.16 and Lahtinen recorded a win in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:25.70.
Freshman Hannah Schlegel (Birdsboro, Pa.) finished the 500-yard freestyle with a win and a time of 2:25.70.
In the 100-yard butterfly, Van Lanen finished with a 56.15 time to take first and Glass recorded her fourth win and finished with a time of 2:08.85 to take first in the 200-yard IM.
The Bobcats travel to Youngstown, Ohio to compete against the Penguins at the Beeghly Natatorium on Saturday, Oct. 21.
