CLEVELAND, Ohio– Ohio soccer freshman defender Heather McGuire was named the Mid-American Conference Co-Offensive Player of the Week for her performance the week of Sept. 2, the league announced today.
McGuire (Hamilton, Ohio) helped the Bobcats to a commanding 7-0 victory over Southern Illinois on Sept. 8. Coming off the bench and moving to midfield for the first time in her career, McGuire scored two goals and registered two assists off the bench.
In the 35 minutes McGuire was on the pitch, she also registered three shots with two of them on goal. McGuire assisted on Ohio's first goal of the game in the 38th minute, she then came out and scored back-to-back goals in the 51st and 55th minutes, at the time giving Ohio a 3-0 lead. Her final contribution came on Ohio's fourth goal of the game, which she assisted in the 59th minute.
Ohio is back in action on Friday, Sept. 13 when the Bobcats host Robert Morris. First touch is set for 4 p.m. at Chessa Field.
