ATHENS, Ohio -- The Ohio wrestling team (1-2, 0-1 MAC) is off to Annapolis, Md., to compete in the Navy Classic on Saturday (Nov. 23) at Wesley Brown Field House.

The Bobcats will be participating in the Navy Classic along with Air Force, American, Brown, Bucknell, Campbell, The Citadel, Cleveland State, Edinboro, George Mason, Kent State, Lock Haven, Michigan State, Navy, Ohio, Old Dominion, Oregon State, Rutgers and Virginia Tech. Preliminary rounds are projected to get underway at 10 a.m ET, with the semifinals slated for 2:30 p.m. ET and the finals for 5 p.m. ET.

Ohio took sixth place at last year's Navy Classic. The Bobcats return three wrestlers who earned top-six finishes at last season's edition of the event, with Shakur Laney (Canal Winchester, Ohio) finishing second as a redshirt junior at 125 pounds, Alec Hagan (Eureka, Mo.) taking third as a redshirt freshman at 149 and Hunter Yeargan (Willard, Mo.) placing sixth as a junior 184.

The Bobcats are coming off of a split at the Boro Duals last Saturday (Nov. 16) in Edinboro, Pa. Ohio dropped a 25-7 decision to the host Fighting Scots in the Bobcats' first Mid-American Conference dual of the 2019-20 season but bounced back with a 46-0 shutout of Long Island. Ohio came away victorious in all 10 bouts with the Sharks. Hagan and redshirt junior Joe Terry (Pickerington, Ohio) each won both of their bouts.

Ohio will begin the second month of the 2019-20 season with a dual meet at Chattanooga on Dec. 1, with action getting underway at 2 p.m. ET.
