ATHENS, Ohio -- The Ohio wrestling team will play host to its first home dual meet of the 2019-20 season when it welcomes No. 21-ranked Campbell to the Convocation Center on Sunday (Nov. 10). Action gets underway at 4 p.m. ET.
Sunday's meet will be streamed live on ESPN+, with Connor Mills and Alec Walker on the call.
The Bobcats opened their 23rd season competing under the direction of head coach Joel Greenlee last Saturday (Nov. 2) at the Michigan State Open in East Lansing, Mich. The Bobcats turned in six top-five finishes, with redshirt sophomore Alec Hagan (Eureka, Mo.) earning a fourth-place finish at 149 pounds in the open division, redshirt junior Mario Guillen (Perrysburg, Ohio) taking fifth at 133 pounds in the open division, freshman Carson Brewer (Avon, Ind.) winning the 184-pound freshman/sophomore division title in his Ohio debut, freshman Shawn Mondello (Oxford, Ohio) finishing as the runner-up at 157 pounds in the freshman/sophomore division, redshirt freshman Jordan Earnest(Wadsworth, Ohio) placing as the runner-up at 285 pounds in the freshman/sophomore division and sophomore Logan Stanley (Fredericksburg, Ohio) taking third at 174 pounds in the freshman/sophomore division.
Sunday's meet against the Camels will mark the second-straight year the Bobcats have faced off with Campbell. In its first dual meet of the 2018-19 season, Ohio fell to Campbell, 19-13, on Nov. 10 in Buies Creek, N.C. Guillen earned a 4-3 win by decision at 133 while then-redshirt sophomore Nick Vestal (Wilmington, Ohio) earned a 6-3 win by decision at 157.
The Camels entered this weekend ranked as high as No. 21 by The Open Mat (dual rankings) while also carrying top-25 rankings from InterMat (No. 23) and FloWrestling (No. 25). Before traveling to Athens, Campbell visited Pitt on Saturday for a top-25 showdown against the No. 11-ranked Panthers.
Campbell opened the 2019-20 season last weekend at the Southeast Open with six individual championships while placing 17 overall. The Men's Open Division saw four Camels take championships, the most of any team in the field, beating out Missouri's three, with redshirt senior Noah Gonser at 133 pounds, redshirt junior Josh Heil at 141, redshirt senior Quentin Perez at 165 and redshirt senior Andrew Morgan at 184. Following his title at 165, Perez was named the Southern Conference's Wrestler of the Week.
