Ohio Wrestling To Hold Outdoor Demo Prior To Saturday's Football Game

ATHENS, Ohio -- The Ohio wrestling team will be holding an Outdoor Demo prior to the football team's Homecoming game against Northern Illinois on Saturday (Oct. 12).

The Outdoor Demo will get underway at 1 p.m. ET in Bicentennial Park in front of Walter Hall.

The wrestling team officially opens up the 2019-20 season under the direction of 23rd-year head coach Joel Greenlee with a trip to East Lansing, Mich., for the Michigan State Open (Nov. 2). The Bobcats will host their first home dual meet of season on Nov. 10 when they welcome Campbell to the Convocation Center. Click here for the team's complete schedule.

Ohio finished the 2018-19 regular season with a record of 8-6, including four Mid-American Conference victories over Kent State, Northern Illinois, Central Michigan and SIUE. Redshirt junior Zac Carson (Akron, Ohio) and redshirt sophomore Mario Guillen (Perrysburg, Ohio) both enter the new season ranked in their respective weight classes by WIN Magazine, with Carson ranked 16th at 157 pounds and Guillen ranked 15th at 133 pounds. The Bobcats also return sophomore Colt Yinger (Nelsonville, Ohio), who went 16-8 at 165 pounds in his rookie campaign with the Bobcats in 2019-20 and placed second in his weight class at last year's MAC Championships, and redshirt senior Shakur Laney (Canal Winchester, Ohio), who won a MAC title at 125 in 2017 and qualified for the NCAA Championships as a both a freshman and sophomore.
