ATHENS, Ohio – Ohio head wrestling coach Joel Greenlee announced Thursday the addition of Colin Heffernan who will join the Bobcats as an assistant coach for the upcoming season.
Heffernan is no stranger to the Ohio program as he competed against the Bobcats for four seasons as a 157-pound wrestler for Central Michigan.
"I think after a successful career Colin will be a great addition to our staff," said Greenlee. "He comes from a family of coaches and is very eager to get started here at Ohio."
With the Chippewas, Heffernan was a four-year letterwinner and three-time NCAA Qualifier including this past season. He served as team captain and finished third at the Mid-American Conference Championships in 2018 and second in 2017.
"I'm excited to be down in Athens and back in my home state," said Heffernan. "I feel that I fit well with the coaching staff and culture of the program. I'm eager to step into my new role and begin to help our student-athletes reach their goals."
Heffernan posted a collegiate record of 91-38 wrestling at 149, 157 and 165-pound weight classes.
