YPSILANTI, Mich.– The Ohio women's golf team opened play at the 2019 EMU Shirley Spork Invitational hosted by Eastern Michigan at the 6,164-yard Eagle Crest Golf Club in Ypsilanti, Mich. The Bobcats finished day one in 10th place after opening the tournament with a 319 before shooting a 314 in round two, giving them a day-one total of 633 (+57).
Eastern Michigan currently sits in first place with a 596 (+20).
Leading Ohio is freshman Maria Howard (Dublin, Ohio) who opened the tournament with a first round score of 76, before wrapping up the day with an 80, giving her a two-round total of 156 (+12), tying her for 38th place.
Sophomore Alicia Porvasnik (Hinckley, Ohio) currently sits tied for 41st place after opening the day with a 79, before finishing Monday with a 78, giving her a two-round total of 157 (+13). Fellow sophomore Catherine Loftus (Roswell, Ga.) currently sits tied for 46th place. Loftus opened Monday with an 83, before coming back to finish the day with a 76, giving her a day-one total of 159 (+15)
Freshman Avery Ovens (Wiloughby Hills, Ohio) opened the day with an 81, before coming back to shoot an 82, giving her a Monday total of 163 (+19), tying her for 59th place.
Wrapping out the scoring Bobcats is junior Ashley Flynn (Dublin, Ohio) who opened the day with an 87, before finishing with an 80 to give her a two-round total of 167 (+23), tying her for 66th place.
Competing unattached for the Bobcats is redshirt freshman Mallory Lovell (Georgetown, Ky.), who sits tied for 44th place after opening the day with an 80, before coming back to shoot a 78 to give her a two-round total of 158 (+14).
The Bobcats wrap up play at the 2019 EMU Shirley Spork Invitational on Tuesday, Oct. 1 with a 9 a.m. shotgun start.
