NORMAL, Ill.– The Ohio women's golf team opened the 2019-20 season today (Sept. 8) at the 2019 Redbird Invitational, hosted by Illinois State at the 6,010–yard Weibring Golf Club. After the first two rounds, the Bobcats sit in 17thplace after shooting a 323 in the first round, before finishing Sunday with a round of 315, finishing the day 638 (+62).
Leading Ohio was sophomore Catherine Loftus (Roswell, Ga.) who currently sits tied for 38thplace after opening the day with a 77 before wrapping up with a second-round score of 75, giving her a day-one total of 152 (+8).
Junior Ashley Flynn (Dublin, Ohio) finished the day with a first round score of 81, before shooting a second-round score of 80, giving her a day-one total of 161 (+17), tying her for 80th place. Sophomore Alicia Porvasnik (Hinckley, Ohio) finished tied for 83rd place after shooting an opening round score of 80, before finishing the day with an 82, giving her a two-round total of 162 (+18).
Freshman Avery Ovens (Wiloughby Hills, Ohio) made her collegiate debut on Sunday, finishing the first round with an 85 and the second round with a 78, giving her a two-round total of 163 (+19), tying her for 87th place. Rounding out the scoring Bobcats was senior Marissa Balish (Allison Park, Pa.) who opened the day with an 86 before wrapping up with an 84, giving her a two-round total of 170 (+26), tying her for 93rd place.
Competing unattached for the Bobcats was freshman Domitille Chambon (Rochester Hills, Mich.), who sits in 95th place after shooting a first round score of 88, before coming back with an 84, giving her a day-one total of 172 (+28).
Up next, the Bobcats conclude play at the 2019 Redbird Invitational on Monday, Sept. 9 with a shotgun start set for 8:30 a.m.
