ATHENS, Ohio– The Ohio women's golf team opens the 2019-20 season this weekend when they head to Normal, Ill. for the 2019 Redbird Invitational Sept. 8-9. The 54-hole event is hosted by Illinois State at the 6,010 – yard Weibring Golf Club. Par for this year's event is set at 72 with Sunday set for an 8 a.m. shotgun start.

ABOUT THE COURSE
This year's event will take place at the 6,010-yard Weibring Golf Club in Normal, Ill. Par is set at 72. 

WHO IS COMPETING
Including Ohio, 16 team will compete in this year's event; Akron, Ball State, Bowling Green, Bradley, Butler, Drake, Eastern Kentucky, Evansville, Illinois State, Indiana State, IUPUI, Loyola Chicago, Northern Illinois, Ohio, Southern Illinois, Western Illinois and Xavier will all battle it out of this year's title.

Competing for Ohio in this year's event are:
- Sophomore Alicia Porvasnik
- Sophomore Catherine Loftus
- Junior Ashley Flynn
- Freshman Avery Ovens
- Senior Marissa Balish
- Competing as an individual is freshman Domitille Chambon

FIVE THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT OHIO WOMEN'S GOLF
Ohio returns six golfers from last season's roster, including senior Marissa Balish (Allison Park, Pa.) and sophomores Catherine Loftus (Roswell, Ga.) and Alicia Porvasnik (Hinckley, Ohio), who both saw significant playing time during the 2018-19 season. 
- In her first season in the Green and White, Loftus finished third on the team with a 77.85 stroke average in 27 rounds, with her best finish coming at the Dolores Black Falcon Invitational, where she finished tied for 12th place. She also shot a low-round of 71 at the Spring Break Shootout. 
- The Bobcats welcome three new faces to the roster, with freshmen Domitille Chambon (Rochester Hills, Mich.), Maria Howard (Dublin, Ohio) and Avery Ovens (Wiloughby Hills, Ohio).
- At last year's Redbird Invitational, the Bobcats finished in sixth-place after finishing with a three-round total of 926. 
- Emily Hughes was the Bobcats' top finisher, with current Bobcats, Loftus finishing tied for 34thwith Flynn placing 47th, Balish 53rdand Porvasnik 64th
