CLEVELAND, Ohio– Ohio women's golf senior Emily Hughes (Columbus, Ohio) was named the Mid-American Conference Golfer of the Week, the league announced today (April 11).
It is the second time this season that a Bobcat has earned the honor, with senior Nicole Smiley (Dublin, Ohio) earning the honor on April 4.
Hughes, a Sport Management major, led Ohio and was named the 2019 Dolores Black Falcon Invitational Champion. Hughes finished in third place after day one of the invitational, hosted by Bowling Green at the at the 5,829-yard Stone Ridge Golf Club, shooting a 72 (E) for the day. Hughes went on to finish Sunday by shooting a 74, giving her a two-day total of 146 (+2(. That pushed her ahead of the pack by one stroke to clinch the tournament victory. Her performance helped the Bobcats secure second place overall.
It was the second time in her career that Hughes has won the Dolores Black Falcon Invitational, taking the crown last season as well.
Hughes and Ohio return to action April 19-21 at the 2019 MAC Championships in Noblesville, Ind.
