DADE CITY, Fla. –The Ohio women's golf team wrapped up day one at the 2019 Spring Break Shootout, hosted by Western Kentucky and Florida Gulf Coast, on Monday (March 11) at the 6,056- yard Lake Jovita Golf Club. After the first two rounds, the Bobcats sit in 13thplace after shooting a first round score of 296, before finishing the day with a second-round score of 309, giving them a two-round total of 605 (+37).
Troy finished the day at the head of the pack after shooting a 571 (+3) to finish the day.
Freshman Catherine Loftus (Roswell, Ga.) leads the Bobcats after day one. Lofus opened the day with a 71, before wrapping up with a second-round score of 78, giving her a day one total of 149 (+7), placing her tied for 36thentering Tuesday's final round. Next is senior Nicole Smiley (Dublin, Ohio) who finished Monday tied for 45thplace after shooting a first round score of 75, before shooting a 76 in round two for a two-round score of 151 (+9).
Senior Emily Hughes (Columbus, Ohio) is next, finishing the first day tied for 54thplace. Hughes registered a score of 75 in the first round, before shooting a 77 in the second round, giving her a day one total of 152 (+10).
Junior Marissa Balish (Allison Park, Pa.) finished Monday tied for 62ndplace. Balish shot a 75 in her first round, before registering a 79 in the second round, giving her a total of 154 (+12). Rounding out the scoring Bobcats was senior Chloe McKinzie (Medina, Ohio), who finished Monday tied for 81stplace. McKinzie opened the day's rounds with an 84, before coming back and registering a 78 in the second round, giving her a two-round total of 162 (+20).
Playing unattached for Ohio was freshman Alicia Porvasnik (Hinckley, Ohio) who finished the day tied for 70thplace. Porvasnik opened the day with an 80, before shooting a 78 in the second round, giving her a day one total score of 158 (+16).
The Bobcats wrap up play at the 2019 Spring Break Shootout on Tuesday, March 12. Competition begins at 8:30 a.m. with a shotgun start.
