NAPERVILLE, Ill. –The Ohio women's golf team opened play at the 2018 Mid-American Conference Championships, hosted by Northern Illinois at the Naperville Country Club, on Friday (April 20). The Bobcats wrapped up the first round in seventh place after registering a first round scored of 319 (+31).
Kent State leads the pack after the first round of play after registering a first-round total of 282 (-6).
Junior Emily Hughes (Columbus, Ohio), fresh off an individual victory at the 2018 Dolores Black Falcon Invitational, leads the Bobcats after the first round of action. Hughes wrapped up Friday with a 76, placing her in 16thplace at four-over.
Next, sophomore Marissa Balish (Allison Park, Pa.) finished the first round with an 83, finishing the day 11-over and tied for 37thplace.
Rounding out the competing Bobcats is freshman Ashley Flynn (Dublin, Ohio), who finished in 50thplace after shooting a first round score of 88 (+16).
The Bobcats are back in action for the second round of the 2018 MAC Championships on Saturday (April 21). Tee-times will begin at 10 a.m. ET.
