ATHENS, Ohio – The Ohio women's golf team returns to action March 12-13 when the Bobcats head to Dade City, Fla. to take place at the Spring Break Shootout, hosted by Western Kentucky and Florida Golf Coast.
The 54-hole event will take place at the 6,321-yard Lake Jovita Golf Course, with par set at 72. The first 36 holes are set to begin March 12 with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start, with the third and final round on March 13 also beginning with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.
Fans will be able to follow along on birdiefire.com, with scores being updated after every nine holes.
14 teams will participate in this year's event. Those teams are: Arkansas State, UALR, Ball State, Central Michigan, Florida Atlantic, FGCU, Fort Wayne, Georgia Southern, Jacksonville, Lipscomb, Oakland, Ohio, Towson and WKU.
The Bobcats are coming off of a 16th-place finishing at the 2018 Rio Verde Invitational. During the event, senior Lily Pendy led Ohio, finishing tied for 16th place after shooting a three-round score of 227 (+11).
Overall, this season the Bobcats are being led by junior Nicole Smiley and Pendy. Smiley is averaging 76.42 strokes and has shot a low-round of 71 this season Next is Pendy with a 76.93 average.
Up next, the Bobcats head to Richmond, Ky. to take part in the 2018 Lady Colonel Classic March 30-31. The event, hosted by Eastern Kentucky, will take place at the Arlington Golf Course.
