YPSILANTI, Mich. – The Ohio women's golf team opened the 2017 Shirley Spork EMU Invitational on Monday, finishing the day tied for seventh place after shooting a first round score of 320 before coming back in round two with a score of 309 for a two-round total of 629 (+53).
Marshall currently sits in first place after finishing the day with a score of 596 (+20).
Leading the Bobcats is senior Lily Pendy (Grosse Point Farms, Mich.) who currently sits tied for 14th place. Pendy finished the first round with a score of 79. She then returned to the course for the second round, finishing with a score of 74 to give her a two-round total of 153 (+9).
Next for Ohio is freshman Ashley Flynn (Dublin, Ohio), who after the first day of competition sits tied for 24th place after shooting a first round score of 79. Flynn then wrapped up the second round by shooting a 77 to give her a day one total of 156 (+12).
Sophomore Marissa Balish (Allison Park, Pa.) concluded Monday tied for 32nd place after shooting a 79 in both the first and second rounds to give her a two-round total of 158 (+14). Junior Nicole Smiley (Dublin, Ohio) finished Monday sitting in 43rd place after shooting a first round score of 83. Smiley came back later in the day to shoot a 79, giving her a two-round total of 162 (+18).
Rounding out the scoring Bobcats is junior Emily Hughes (Columbus, Ohio) who finished the day tied for 45th place after shooting an 83 and an 81 in the first and second rounds, respectively. Hughes finished the day with a total score of 164 (+20).
Competing unattached for the Bobcats is junior Hannah Travis (Lancaster, Ohio) who finished the day tied for 45th place. Travis finished round one with a score of 87 and came back in the second round to shoot a 77, giving her a day one total of 164 (+20).
The Bobcats wrap up play at the 2017 Shirley Spork EMU Invitational on Tuesday, Oct. 10 with a 9 a.m. shotgun start.
