STATE COLLEGE, Pa. – The Ohio women's golf team finished in ninth place at the Nittany Lion Invitational hosted by Penn State at the Penn State Golf Courses this afternoon. The Bobcats wrapped up the tournament by shooting a 297 on Sunday for a three-round total of 915 (+51).
Leading the Bobcats was junior Nicole Smiley (Dublin, Ohio) who finished the tournament tied for eighth place. Smiley finished Sunday with a final round of 71, giving her a two-day total of 218 (+2).
Next for Ohio was sophomore Marissa Balish (Allison Park, Pa.) who finished the third round with a score of 75, giving her a tournament total of 226 (+10) and tying her for 29th place.
Senior Lily Pendy (Grosse Point Farms, Mich.) wrapped up the Nittany Lion Invitational tied for 55th place after finishing Sunday with a score of 75, giving her a two-day total of 235 (+19). Junior Emily Hughes (Columbus, Ohio) was next for Ohio, finishing Sunday with a round of 76, giving her a two-day total of 236 (+20). The performance helped Hughes finish the tournament tied for 58th place.
Rounding out the scoring Bobcats was freshman Amanda Hayes (Dayton, Ohio) who finished tied for 79th place after shooting a third-round score of 83, giving her a tournament total of 253 (+37).
The Bobcats return to action Oct. 2-3 when they head to Kalamazoo, Mich. to participate in the 2017 Kalamazoo Classic, hosted by Mid-American Conference foe Western Michigan at the Moors Golf Club.
