ATHENS, Ohio — The Ohio Women's Golf team opens the fall slate of its season this weekend when the team travels to Normal, Ill. to compete in the Redbird Invitational at the Weibring Golf Club, hosted by Illinois State. The two-day, three-round tournament begins play on Sunday, Sept. 10 and concludes on Monday, Sept. 11. Round one begins on Sunday with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start and leads directly into round two. Round three will begin on Monday with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.
Par is set at 72 on the 6,035- yard Weibring Golf Club course.
The 12 participating teams for the 2017 Redbird Invitational include: Ball State, Bowling Green, Bradley, Illinois State, Illinois Wesleyan, IUPUI, Loyola, Northern Illinois, Ohio, Southern Illinois, Valparaiso and Western Illinois.
The Bobcats finished eighth in last year's Redbird with a score of 925 (+61). Hailey Hrynewich was the low Bobcat, finishing with a score of 218 (+2).
The Bobcats are coming off a 2016 season that saw the team finish tied for third at the Mid-American Conference Championships, with Hrynewich earning second team All-MAC honors along with being named to the All-Tournament team.
The competing five for Ohio are Balish, Pendy, Hughes, Smiley and Hayes. Flynn will be competing unattached for the Bobcats.
