ATHENS, Ohio -- The Ohio men's golf team is set to compete in the second of three-straight tournaments contested in the state of North Carolina as it travels to Burlington, N.C. for the Phoenix Intercollegiate, which will be contested this week (Oct. 14-15) at Alamance Country Club.

The Phoenix Intercollegiate marks the penultimate event on the Bobcats' 2019 fall schedule. Ohio is set to compete against tournament host Elon, Appalachian State, Drexel, Gardner-Webb, George Mason, George Washington, La Salle, Longwood, Morehead State, Navy, Presbyterian, Radford, Temple, Towson and Wofford as well as individuals from East Carolina and UNCG. Live scoring will be available via BirdieFire.

The Bobcats took second place at last year's Phoenix Intercollegiate with a combined team score of 848 (-4) -- the second-best three-round total in program history -- thanks in large part to shooting a final-round 279 (-5). Ohio tallied 50 birdies at the Phoenix Intercollegiate, which tied for the second-most in the tournament field. Then-sophomore Zach Crawford (Vandalia, Ohio) vaulted 15 spots on the leaderboard thanks to a final-round 66 (-5) that helped him tie for seventh with a 209 (-4). Crawford tallied round scores of 73 (+2) and 70 (-1) in the first two rounds of the tournament. His final-round 66 matched the best round score of his career and tied him again for the third-best round score in program history.

Ohio last competed Oct. 5-6 at the Wolfpack Intercollegiate in Raleigh, N.C. The Bobcats finished in 15th place with a combined team total score of 906 (+42). After shooting rounds of 305 (+17) and 300 (+12), the Bobcats recorded a final-round 301 (+13). Crawford recorded the highest finish of the tournament for Ohio, tying for 31st place with a 219 (+3). He shot rounds of 73 (+1), 76 (+4) and 70 (-2).

Following the Phoenix Intercollegiate, Ohio will compete in its final event of the fall season Oct. 28-29 when it heads to Greensboro, N.C. for the Grandover Collegiate.
