DADE CITY, Fla. -- The No. 5-seeded Ohio men's golf team went 1-1 on the opening day of the 2019 Earl Yestingsmeier Match Play today at Lake Jovita Country Club, falling to No. 4-seeded Bowling Green, 5-1, in the quarterfinals but bouncing back with a 3-1-2 victory over No. 8-seeded Loyola Chicago in the consolation.
Redshirt junior Michael Kenney (Kent, Ohio) accounted for the lone victory for the Bobcats over the Falcons in the first round, topping Bowling Green redshirt Max Rispler, 5&4.
Ohio's second-round win over the Ramblers saw senior Ben Sattler (Liberty Township, Ohio) defeat Loyola Chicago senior Orion Yamat, 3&2, sophomore Austin Dyson (Dublin, Ohio) top freshman Nate Vance, 1 up, and Kenney best sophomore Ryan Magee, 4&2. Sophomore Tanner Johnson (Venetia, Pa.) finished all squared against sophomore Tyler Anderson.
The Bobcats will play for fifth-place against No. 6-seeded DePaul on Tuesday (Feb. 12) in the final round of the 2019 Earl Yestingsmeier Match Play. Action gets underway with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. ET.
