DADE CITY, Fla. -- The No. 7-seeded Ohio men's golf team earned a fifth-place finish at the 2018 Earl Yestingsmeier Match Play, besting No. 5-seeded Drake, 4-1-1 on Tuesday (Feb. 13) at Lake Jovita Country Club.

Junior Ben Sattler (Liberty Township Ohio) topped Drake senior Drew Ison, 5&4. Redshirt senior Tom Nettles (McMurray, Pa.) beat junior Jack Kennedy, 7&6. Freshman Zach Crawford (Vandalia, Ohio) knocked off freshman Tim Lim, 4&3. Freshman Tanner Johnson (Venetia, Pa.) defeated junior Tommi Avant, 5&4.

On Monday (Feb. 12), the Bobcats bounced back from a 4-2 loss to No. 2-seeded Eastern Michigan with a 4-1-1 triumph over No. 6-seeded DePaul on the first day of competition for the match play event. Sattler defeated Eastern Michigan senior Nic Ross, 3&2, while Nettles topped freshman Cougar Collins, 4&3. In the semifinal match against the Blue Demons, senior Brady Bohl (Dublin, Ohio) beat freshman Joe McCarthy, 2&1. Sattler knocked off senior Freddy Thomas, 1up. Nettles bested senior Bobby Thomas, 5&4. Crawford defeated junior Ronnie Griggs, 3&2.

No. 1-seeded Miami beat out No. 3-seeded Toledo for the 2018 Earl Yestingsmeier Match Play title on Tuesday. The two teams finished all squared but the RedHawks won the championship after taking the tiebreaker based off of most holes won. The third-place match saw No. 4-seeded Ball Stare knock off Eastern Michigan, 4-2. In the seventh-place match, DePaul defeated No. 8-seeded Loyola, 5-1.

The Bobcats will be back in action next week (Feb. 17-18) in Savannah, Ga., to compete in the Invitational at Savannah Harbor.
