AKRON, Ohio -- The Ohio men's golf team sits in sixth place after the first two rounds of The Firestone Invitational, which took place on Monday (Oct. 2) at Firestone Country Club's North Course. The Bobcats improved on a first-round 296 (+8) with a second-round 294 (+6), giving Ohio a total team score of 590 (+4).
Illinois State leads the field with a 564 (-12) after combining to tally identical round scores of 282 (-6).
Freshman Zach Crawford (Vandalia, Ohio) paced the Bobcats on the tournament's opening day, shooting a 140 (-4) after rounds of 67 (-5) and 73 (+1) to put himself in a tie for fifth. He tied tied for fifth in the tournament field with nine birdies.
Senior Brady Bohl (Dublin, Ohio) is tied for eighth with a 143 (-1) after he tallied round scores of 72 (E) and 71 (-1). He leads the tournament field with 26 pars.
Junior Ben Sattler (Liberty Township, Ohio) totaled rounds of 79 (+7) and 74 (+2), putting him in a tie for 60th with a 153 (+9).
Making his 2017-18 debut, senior Grant Engel (Pittsburgh, Pa.) is tied for 66th with a 154 (+10). He carded rounds of 78 (+6) and 76 (+4).
Redshirt senior Tom Nettles (McMurray, Pa.) improved on a first-round 85 (+13) with a second-round 77 (5), putting him in a tie for 85th with a 162 (+18).
Akron junior Elliott Grayson and Cincinnati junior Austin Squires are tied for the tournament lead with matching scores of 136 (-8). Each posted first-round scores of 71 (-1) and second-round scores of 65 (-7).
Final-round action of The Firestone Invitational will begin at 8:30 a.m. ET on Tuesday (Oct. 3). Live scoring will be available through GolfStat.
