Mitch Mormann enters his third season as Ohio's recruiting coordinator and pitching coach after joining Ohio in 2019. 

At Ohio, Mormann oversees the pitching staff development and coordinates all recruiting efforts. 

In 2020, Mormann was the pitching coach for LHP Joe Rock, who was drafted with the 68th pick in the competitive balance B Round of the 2021 MLB First-Year Player Draft. Rock was  8-3 with a 2.33 earned run average in 14 starts, striking out 117 batters while permitting just 23 earned runs on 67 hits and 27 walks over 88.2 innings of work. He ranked third in the MAC in strikeouts and innings pitched, fourth in ERA and tied for fourth in wins. Rock was First-team All-MAC and a member of Collegiate Baseball's 2021 NCAA Division I All-American Second Team. Mormann also placed RHP Edward Kutt IV on the All-MAC first-team. 
 

Mormann joined Ohio from South Dakota State, where he was the assistant coach and head pitching coach. While at SDSU, Mormann coached two First-Team All-Summit League closers, three Second Team All-Summit League pitchers, two Collegiate Baseball Freshman All-Americans and had six players named to the All-Summit League Academic Team. Mormann had one pitcher picked in the MLB Draft while the team led the Summit League in pitching in 2019.

From SDSU, Mormann came from North Dakota, where he helped mold Zach Muckenhirn into the program's highest-ever draft pick.

Mormann was a key member of the Ohio coaching staff in 2015, when the Bobcats won the 2015 Mid-American Conference championship and made an NCAA Regional. As the volunteer assistant coach, Mormann helped put three pitchers on the 2015 MAC All-Tournament Team and had one pitcher – Logan Cozart – selected in the MLB Draft by Colorado.

His college coaching career at Des Moines Area Community College, where Mormann coached the 2014 NJCAA Division II National Player of the Year and won the ICCAC.

Mormann played at Des Moines Area Community College, LSU and Wichita State during his collegiate career. Mormann was drafted three times in college and played in the San Francisco Giants organization after his amateur career ended.
