ATHENS, Ohio – The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced the Academic All-District Football Team Thursday, which included Ohio RS senior tight end Troy Mangen (Union, Ohio) and RS junior wide receiver Andrew Meyer (Canal Winchester, Ohio) who were named Academic All-District Five.
Mangen, a Management & Strategic Leadership/Marketing major with a 3.81-grade point average, has started in all 11 games this season for the Bobcats with 10 receptions for 115 yards and two touchdowns.
Meyer is a Finance & Management Information Systems major with a 3.81-grade point average. Meyer has started in 10 games this season and is the second most-targeted wide receiver for Ohio with 28 catches for 393 yards and two touchdowns.
The 2017 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District® Football Team recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® Team ballot, with first- and second-team Academic All-America honorees to be announced in December.
To be considered for Academic All-District, a player must be a starter or solid contributor, have a cumulative GPA of 3.25 and cannot be a first-year player at the institution.
