DAYTON, Ohio – The Ohio Baseball team (3-10) dropped the final game of the weekend to Wright State (7-4), 12-1, on Sunday afternoon at Nischwitz Stadium.
Wright State scored five runs in the first inning and one in the second inning to take a 6-1 lead. Ohio was able to get one run in the top of the sixth but WSU scored two in the bottom half of the inning, three in the seventh and one in the eighth for the final score of 12-1
Sophomore Aaron Levy (Cincinnati, Ohio) brought home the Ohio run in the bottom of the sixth with a single to center field to score senior INF Rudy Rott (Holmen, Wis.). Rott reached with a double to center field.
Rott finished the day 2-for-4 with a. double, single and one run scored. Levy wrapped up the game 1-for-3 with an RBI and a single.
Redshirt freshman RHP Jack Liberatore (Greensburg, Pa.) was given the loss and fell to 1-2 this season after allowing six earned runs in 3.0 innings pitched. Liberatore fanned three batters during his outing.
Redshirt senior Nick Kamrada (Grand Ledge, Mich.), junior LHP Nick Byrnes (Cincinnati, Ohio) and redshirt junior LHP Tony Iero (North Canton, Ohio) each tossed 0.2 innings without giving up a run in the game.
Freshman RHP Matt Brosky (Strongsville, Ohio) gave up one earned run in 0.2 innings while striking out one batter. Freshman RHP Braxton Kelly (Ulysses, Ky.) fanned two batters in 2.1 innings while allowing four earned runs.
Ohio will return to action when they return the Gem City on Wednesday. Ohio will take on Dayton at 3 p.m.
