ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Ohio field hockey team (0-3, 0-0 MAC) fell 3-1 at Saint Louis (1-1, 0-0 A10) on Saturday, Sept. 6.
The Bobcats recorded 15 shots with eight on goal. The Billikens recorded eight shots with three on goal.
Ohio's lone goal came from senior
Emily Risser (Palmyra, Pa.). Risser's goal in the second quarter was assisted by senior
Anouk Plaehn (Hanover, Germany).
Sophomore
Mia Scheulen led the team with three shots on goal. Four other Bobcats recorded at least one shot on goal.
After a scoreless first quarter, both teams were able to find success on offense in the second. Saint Louis got on the board first, but Risser quickly scored the equalizer. After being awarded a penalty stroke opportunity, Saint Louis was able to get one more on the board before the half was over. After two quarters of play, the Bobcats trailed the Billikens 2-1.
Saint Louis largened its lead in the third quarter. Ohio trailed Saint Louis 3-1 heading into the final quarter of the game.
Despite their efforts and offensive pressure, the Bobcats were unable to catch up with Saint Louis. Ohio ultimately fell to Saint Louis, 3-1.
The Bobcats will be back in action at UC Davis on Thursday, Sept. 11 at 3 p.m. ET. The game will be available to watch on ESPN+.
