PAW PRINTS: The Week Ahead in Ohio Athletics

ATHENS, Ohio –The 2025 Outdoor Track and Field MAC Championships are in Athens this week, while Ohio baseball wraps up the 2025 season! Check out everything that's ahead for Ohio Athletics in this week's Paw Prints.

TRACK AND FIELD

Ohio track and field team is set to host the 2025 Mid0American Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships May 15-17 at Goldsberry Track in Athens, Ohio. The three-day events begins on Thursday, May 15 at 10 a.m. ET with combined events, while field events set for 11 a.m. and running events at 5 p.m. ET. On Friday, May 16, combined events begin at 11 a.m. ET, field events at 1 p.m. ET and running events at 4 p.m. ET. The championships conclude on Saturday, May 17 with field events starting at 12:30 p.m. ET and running events at 1 p.m. ET. 

The Bobcats finished 12th at last year's outdoor championships. 

Ohio is coming off a successful weekend at Northeast Ohio Open in Akron, Ohio this past weekend. Freshman Ashley Cornathan, senior Millie Ryan and senior Jasmine Correa competed in the women's hammer throw. Cornathan (43.44m/142-6) finished 13th, Correa (38.82m/127-4) finished 16th and Ryan (38.69m/126-11) finished 17th.

The Ohio baseball team (12-36, 7-20 MAC) concludes the 2025 season May 15-17 when they head to Kalamazoo, Mich. for a three-game series with Western Michigan (18-30, 11-16 MAC. The series begins on Thursday, May 15 at 3 p.m. ET, with game two set for Friday, May 16 at 2 p.m. ET. The series and season concludes on Saturday, may 17 at 1 p.m. ET. All three games will be streamed on WMUBroncos.com. 

Ohio picked up a win against Ball State last weekend, defeating the Cardinals 5-4 in Athens on Friday. 

WMU is currently 18-30 overall, with an 11-16 mark in MAC play. After sweeping CMU two weeks ago and defeating Michigan State last Tuesday, the Broncos were swept on the road at Kent State last weekend.
