ATHENS, Ohio – Ohio men's basketball opens Mid-American Conference play, with both the men and the women at home, while wrestling heads to North Carolina for two duals! Check out everything that's ahead for Ohio Athletics in this week's Paw Prints, presented by Memorial Health System. 

MEN'S BASKETBALL

The Ohio men's basketball team (4-6, 0-0 MAC) is back in Athens for the start of a three-game homestand beginning on Tuesday, Dec. 16 when the Bobcats host Ohio Wesleyan (3-6), tip-off is set for 7 p.m. inside the Convocation Center and can be seen on ESPN+. Ohio then opens Mid-American Conference play on Saturday, Dec. 20 when the Bobcats host Bowling Green (7-3, 0-0 MAC). Tip-off is set for 4 p.m. ET inside the Convocation Center and can be seen on ESPN+. The game is the second of a men's and women's doubleheader, with the women's team set to take on St. Louis at 1 p.m. ET. 

The Bobcats' matchup can also be heard on the Ohio Sports Network from Learfield, presented by Holzer Health System. Jason Toy begins his second season on the mic for the Bobcats, while Dave Cecutti joins him in his first season on the airwaves. WXTQ (Power 105) in Athens returns as the 11-station net- work's flagship and can be heard on the Varsity Network App

Ohio is 4-6 overall after defeating St. Bonaventure, 88-83 in overtime at the Cleveland Hoops Showdown inside Rocket Arena. Senior guard Jackson Paveletzke led Ohio with 25 points, while redshirt junior forward Javan Simmons finished the game with 17 points and six rebounds. Senior forward Aidan Hadaway also finished the game with 14 points and a team-high nine rebounds. 

Ohio Wesleyan is 3-6 overall and 0-2 in conference play. Overall, Ohio Wesleyan averages 64.4 points per game, while shooting 41.8 percent from the field, 31.2 percent from three and 57.0 percent from the line. Meanwhile, opponents are averaging 68.3 points per game, while shooting 45.4 percent from the field, 34.0 percent from three and 75.0 percent from the line. 

Bowling Green is 7-3 overall and is coming off a win against Aquinas College and a loss against Utah Valley. The Falcons will take on Chicago State on Tuesday in Bowling Green. Javontae Campbell leads the Falcons with 17.0 points a game and 4.7 rebounds. Former Bobcat Sam Towns adds 12.4 points and 6.7 rebounds. 

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL

The Ohio women's basketball team (5-3) is back in action on Saturday, Dec. 20 when the Bobcats host St. Louis (4-7). Tip-off is set for 1 p.m. ET inside the Convocation Center and can be seen on ESPN+. The game is the first game of a men's and women's doubleheader, with the men's team taking on Bowling Green at 4 p.m. ET. 

Ohio is coming off a 1-0 week where the Bobcats defeated Radford, 72-67 on the road. Two Bobcats recorded double-doubles during the game. Graduate student Elli Garnett led the team in rebounding a career-high 13 boards in addition to 14 points and one assist. Junior Bailey Tabeling also recorded a double-double with 14 points, a career-high 12 rebounds and a career-high six assists.

St. Louis is currently 4-7 overall and is coming off a loss against Missouri on Sunday at home. The Billikens will take on Jacksonville State at home on Wednesday before traveling to Athens. Alexia Nelson leads St. Louis with 14.9 points a game and is shooting .442 from the field, while Zya Nugent adds 13.0 points and 6.1 rebounds a game.

The Ohio wrestling team (1-1) is back in action for two duals in North Carolina this week. The weekend begins on Saturday, Dec. 20 when Ohio heads to Davidson N.C. to take on Davidson (2-6). The dual is set to begin at 2 p.m. ET inside Baker Sports Complex. Ohio is back in action on Sunday, Dec. 21 when the Bobcats head to Boiling Springs, N.C. to take on Gardner-Webb (). The match is set to begin at 1 p.m. ET inside Paul Porter Arena and can be seen on ESPN+. 

Ohio is coming off a successful trip to the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational Dec. 5-6. Redshirt Senior Sal Perrine was an outstanding performer for the Bobcats over the weekend, placing sixth in the 184 lb. bracket. Redshirt Junior Derek Raike was another standout for the Bobcats, continuing a strong recent run of form with a seventh place finish in the 157 lb. bracket. 

Davidson is 2-5 overall in dual matches this season with wins over Morgan State and Greensboro College. The Wildcats will take on Presbyterian and Franklin & Marshall on Thursday before hosting the Bobcats. 

Gardner-Webb is 3-6 overall with wins over Air Force and Centenary and are coming off losses to Buffalo and Kent State last Saturday in a tri-meet in Buffalo.
