CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Mid-American Conference announced the 2024 Academic All-MAC Wrestling Team this afternoon (Apr. 17). The Bobcats had two wrestlers make the list: junior Sal Perrine (Northfield, Ohio) and redshirt freshman Mason Brugh (Wadsworth, Ohio).
To qualify for the honors, the student-athletes needed to be in their second year in school, compete in 50% of the competitions, and record a 3.20 or better cumulative GPA.
This is Perrine's second consecutive year being named to the Academic All-MAC team. The junior was Ohio's starter at 174-pounds for the third consecutive year, working to a 20-11 overall record. Perrine placed fourth overall in the conference for his weight class. A captain for the Bobcats, Perrine is a finance major and holds a 3.405 cumulative GPA.
Brugh makes the All-MAC Academic team for the first time in his career. Brugh started the majority of the season for the Bobcats at 133-pounds. Overall, Brugh recorded an 8-13 record, including a second-place finish in the Freshman/Sophomore division at the Southeast Open early in the season. Brugh is majoring in business at Ohio and has a 3.796 GPA.
