MOREHEAD, Ky. – The Ohio women's basketball team (1-2, 0-0 MAC) fell at Morehead State (2-3, 0-0 OVC) 89-60 on Wednesday, Nov. 22 at the Johnson Arena.
"I thought we played some good minutes of basketball, but obviously not enough. The turnovers are still plaguing us a little bit and we have to get that figured out before conference play. We're not anywhere near a finished product and we still have work to do," head coach Bob Bolden said. "We'll take tomorrow off for thanksgiving, and it will be a nice break for everybody. Then we'll get back and get two days of practice to get ready for a very talented IUPUI team."
Sophomore
Cassidy Lafler (Dublin, Ohio) led the Bobcats with a career-best 11 points and shot 4-for-5 from the field. Junior
Kennedi Watkins (Ballwin, Mo.) tallied 10 points, three rebounds and finished 5-for-7 from the field. In addition to netting six points, freshman
Laylay Fantroy (Palestine, Texas) grabbed a career-best six rebounds and three assists.
Overall, the Bobcats 40.4 percent from the field, 20.8 percent from the arch and 59.1 percent from the line. More than half of Ohio's points were scored in the paint, with 25 points coming from off the bench.
Morehead State capitalized on the Bobcats' 29 turnovers. The Eagles scored 33 points off turnovers, 18 fast break points and 38 points in the paint.
The Bobcats will be back in action on Sunday, Nov. 26 as they prepare to host IUPUI in the Convocation Center. Tip-off is set for 1 p.m. and the game will be available to watch on ESPN+.
