PAW PRINTS: The Week Ahead in Ohio Athletics

Athens, Ohio – Ohio volleyball begins their journey to a MAC Championship this week, while football concludes its home schedule both basketball return to Athens. Check out everything that's ahead for Ohio Athletics in this week's Paw Prints. 

FOOTBALL

The Ohio football team (7-3, 4-2 MAC) are set to host the Central Michigan Chippewas (5-5, 3-3 MAC) next Wednesday (Nov. 15) in Athens, Ohio. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m. ET at Frank Solich Field at Peden Stadium. The game can be seen on ESPNU with Jason Ross and Dustin Fox. 

The Bobcats and the Chippewas have met 34 times since 1972, with Ohio taking home five victories. The two teams last met in Athens during the 2021 season, where the Bobcats fell 30-27.   

Ohio is coming off a 20-10 victory at Buffalo last week.

MEN'S BASKETBALL

The Ohio men's basketball team (1-1) is back in Athens this weekend when they host Detroit Mercy (0-2) on Saturday, Nov. 18. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m. inside the Convocation Center and can be seen on ESPN+. 

Ohio is coming off a 1-1 week where they defeated Troy in the season opener in Athens, before falling to Cleveland State in a physical battle on the road on Saturday night. 

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL

PROMOTIONS: "Next Start Now" T-shirts for the first 100 students

The Ohio women's basketball team (0-1) returns to action on Thursday, Nov. 15 for their first game in the Convo this season when they host Dayton (1-1). Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. inside the Convocation Center and can be seen on ESPN+. The first 100 students in attendance will receive a 'Next Starts Now' t-shirt. 

Ohio is coming off an opening weekend on the road at App State in the MAC-SBC Challenge. 

VOLLEYBALL

The Ohio volleyball team (17-12, 12-5 MAC) wraps up the 2023 regular season this week when they head to Kent, Ohio on Wednesday, Nov. 15 to take on Kent State (6-22 ,2-15 MAC)  in the final game of the regular season. First serve is set for 6 p.m. inside the M.A.C. Center and can be seen on ESPN+. 

The Bobcats then head to Kalamazoo, Mich. for the 2023 MAC Tournament, Nov. 18-20. The Bobcats will learn their game time and opponent following the bracket release Wednesday night. 

Ohio is coming off a 2-0 week where they handed Central Michigan two sweep, helping the Bobcats clinch a spot in this year's tournament. 

SWIM AND DIVE

The Ohio swim and dive teams are back in action this week when they head to two separate invitationals. 

The Bobcats diving team will head to Columbus, Ohio for the 2023 Ohio State Fall Invite, Nov. 16-18 at McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion.

The Ohio swimmer will head to Lynchburg, Va. for the 2023 TYR '85 hosted by Liberty, Nov. 17-19 at Liberty Natatorium.

Ohio last competed Nov. 4 against Akron, defeating the Zips, 173-126. 

WRESTLING
Nov. 18 / at Navy Classic / Owings Mills, Va / McDonogh School / 10 a.m. EST / FLOwrestling / Watch / Live Results 

Ohio wrestling is back on the road this weekend when they head to the Navy Classic on Nov. 18. The invite will take place at the McDonogh School in Owings Mills, Va., with competition set to begin at 10 a.m. and can be streamed on FLOwrestling. 

Ohio is coming off a 2-0 week where they defeated UT Chattanooga and Ashland in a tri-meet in Athens. Zayne Lehman earned two tech falls in the meet.
