PAW PRINTS: The Week Ahead in Ohio Athletics

ATHENS, Ohio -- It's Parent's Weekend at Ohio University and the Bobcats are ready to celebrate. Check out what ahead for Ohio Athletics in this week's Paw Prints. 

FOOTBALL
Sept. 24  / vs Fordham / Frank Solich Field at Peden Stadium / Athens, Ohio  / 2 p.m. / ESPN+ / Watch / Live Stats / Audio / Notes / Tickets  

The Ohio football team (1-2) is back in Athens this weekend to take on Fordham (3-0) for a Parent's Weekend matchup on Saturday, Sept. 24. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. at Frank Solich Field at Peden Stadium and the game can be seen ESPN+. Saturday is also the Bobcats' annual Turn It Gold game and it is Military Appreciation Day. 
 
The Bobcats' matchup can also be heard on the Ohio Sports Network from Learfield. Russ Eisenstein returns for his 15th season as the "Voice of the Bobcats" and will be joined by Ohio alum Rob Cornelius, who has been a part of the broadcasts for two decades.

WOMEN'S GOLF
Sept. 19-20  / at Brittany Kelly Cardinal Classic / The Players Club / Yorktown, Ind. / All Day / Live Stats

The Ohio women's golf team is back in action for its second tournament of the season Sept. 19-20 at the 2022 Brittany Kelly Cardinal Classic. The two-day event is hosted at The Players Club in Yorktown, Ind. The 12 teams competing in this year's tournament are: Ball State, IUPUI, Ohio, Western Illinois, Oakland, Western Michigan, Loyola, Akron, Eastern Michigan, Purdue Fort Wayne, Valparaiso and Dayton.   

The tournament begins with 36 holes for the first day on Monday, before concluding with 18 holes on Tuesday. Par will be set at 72. 

MEN'S GOLF
Sept. 19-20  / at River Run Collegiate / River Run Country Club / Davidson, N.C. / All Day / Live Stats

The Ohio men's golf team is back in action this week at the 2022 River Run Collegiate Sept. 19-20. The 54-hole event will take place at the River Run Country Club in Davidson, N.C. The 18 teams competing in this year's event are: Appalachian State, Drexel, Gardner-Webb, Marshall, Presbyterian College, William and Mary, Davidson, Eastern Carolina, George Mason, Ohio, Queens, Winthrop, Dayton, Eastern Michigan, Howard, Old Dominion, Radford and Charlotte. 

The tournament beings on Monday with 36 holes, before wrapping on on Tuesday with 18 holes. Par is set at 72. 

SOCCER
Sept. 22  / at Kent State / Dix Stadium / Kent, Ohio / 7 p.m. / Watch / Live Stats

The Ohio soccer team (4-2-1, 0-0 MAC) opens Mid-American Conference play this week when they head to Kent State (0-5-2, 0-0 MAC) to take on Kent State. First touch is set for 7 p.m. at Dix Stadium. Ohio is then back in Athens on Sunday, Sept. 25 when they host Buffalo (6-1, 0-0 MAC). First touch is set for 1 p.m. at Chessa Field. 

SWIM AND DIVE
Sept. 23  / Green and White Scrimmage / Ohio University Aquatics Center / Athens, Ohio / 5 p.m.

The Ohio swimming and diving squad start live action this weekend when they host its annual Green and White Scrimmage. The event is set to start at 5 p.m. at the Ohio University Aquatics Center. 

The Bobcats regular season begins on Saturday, Oct. 1 when they take on Virginia Tech and George Washington in Blacksburg, Va. 

VOLLEYBALL

The Ohio volleyball team (6-5, 0-0 MAC) opens Mid-American Conference play this week when they return to Athens to host Miami (5-6, 0-0 MAC) for the 'Battle of the Bricks'.

The first match of the series is scheduled for Friday, Sept. 23 at 7 p.m. inside the Convo. It will be Ukraine Night where the first 100 fans will get a Bobcats for Ukraine Rally Towels. The Bobcats and RedHawks are back in action on Saturday, Sept. 24 at 6:30 p.m. in the Convo to close out the series. 

FIELD HOCKEY

The Ohio field hockey team (4-2, 0-1 MAC) is back in action this week fow two matches. The first match is set for Friday, Sept. 23 at Longwood (2-5, 0-1 MAC) for a MAC matchup. First touch is set for 6 p.m. at Elizabeth Burger Jackson Field in Farmville, Va. Ohio is back on the road on Sunday, Sept. 25 when Ohio takes on VCU (4-3) in Richmond, Va. First touch is set for 1 p.m. at Cary Street Field.
