
Ohio Track & Field Competes at Oliver Nikoloff Invitational

CINCINNATI, Ohio -- The Ohio track & field team competed at the Oliver Nikoloff Invitational this weekend (April 1-2) at the University of Cincinnati.Â
In the throwing events, senior Rachel Simpson (Port Clinton, Ohio) secured two top ten finishes. Simpson placed fifth in the discus with a throw of 44.11m and 10th in the javelin with a throw of 21.39m. Simpson also competed in the hammer, where she threw 41.27m. Sophomore Jordan Baith (Sevillem Ohio) led the Bobcats in the hammer with a throw of 42.12mm, placing 16th. Baith also competed in the discus and shot put, where she finished 12th and 24th with throws of 40.30m and 11.07m. Senior Autumn Mohan (Chillicothe, Ohio) led Ohio in the shot put, placing 12th and throwing 12.33m. Additionally, Mohan competed in the hammer and discus, placing 18th and ninth with throws of 41.79m and 42.58m. Freshman Millie Ryan (Vincent, Ohio) also represented the Bobcats in the hammer, discus, and shot put. Ryan placed 24th, 15th, and 19th with throws of 30.13m, 38.34m, and 11.53m.
In the triple jump, sophomore Emily McKenzie (Dillsburg, Pa.) placed ninth with a jump of 10.78m.
Junior Carina Weaver (Lexington, Ohio) led Ohio in the steeplechase, finishing seventh with a time of 11:17.18. Weaver was followed by sophomore Kenna Loveless (Tallmadge, Ohio), who placed 11th with a 11:29.96 and senior Jocelyn Knauss (Strongsville, Ohio) who finished 16th, clocking a 12.33.96.
Freshman Sarah Liederbach (Petoskey, Mich.) represented the Bobcats in the 1500m, placing 21st with a time of 4:53.06.
Meanwhile, red shirt junior Alaya Grose (Mansfield, Ohio) clocked a 17.15 in the 100m hurdles, placing her in 21st as well.
Senior Stephanie Pierce (Fairborn, Ohio) led Ohio in the 800m, finishing sixth in 2:13.69. Junior Alyssa Christian (Newark, Ohio) followed with a time of 2:18.83 and placed 18th.
In the 200m, fifth year Olivia Brewer (Mount Gilead, Ohio) finished 24th in 27.66.
Fifth year Hailey Bowes (Arlington Heights, Ill.) closed out the meet with a first-place finish in the 5000m. Bowes clocked a 16:56.24 and was followed freshman Kelsi Harris (Liberty Township, Ohio) who placed ninth in 17:24.28. Graduate student Jessie Hartman (Lebanon, Ohio), red shirt sophomore Bailey Roberts (North Kingsville, Ohio), and red shirt junior Lauren Parrell (Brighton, Mich.) also competed in the 3000m for the Bobcats. They placed 20th, 22nd, and 29th with times of 17:55.78, 18:01.03, and 18:18.00.
Up next, the Ohio will host the Cherry Blossom Invitational at Goldsberry Track on April 16.Â
