Ohio Swimming and Diving Wraps up Tri-Meet at Michigan

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – The Ohio swimming and diving team returned to action Friday afternoon in Ann Arbor, Mich. for a tri-meet with Michigan and Eastern Michigan. The Bobcats defeated EMU, 162-118 and fell to Michigan 211-86. 
 
The Bobcats opened competition with the 200-yard medley relay, where the Ohio 'A' team of senior Emma Fortman (Madeira, Ohio), junior Ami Hornyak (Debrecen, Hungary), junior Gabrielle Brust (Granville, Ohio) and senior McKenzie Grau (Mason, Ohio) placed third with a time of 1:44.16. 
 
In the 1,000 free, junior Morgan Croaning (Carmel, Ind.) placed second, finishing in 10:24.80, and in the 200-yard freestyle, freshman Lauren Hartel (Arlington, Va.) placed sixth, finishing in 1:53.75. Freshman Allison Schrank (Blaine, Minn.) picked up a second-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke, finishing the race in 57.14, while junior Riley Bunstine (Alexandria, Ohio) finished fifth, touching in at 57.74.
 
Hornyak earned a first-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke, touching in at 1:03.02, while freshman Casadie DiBetta (St. Clairsville, Ohio) placed fifth in 1:05.57. In the 200-yard fly, senior Madeline Marks (Bentonville, Ark.) finished four in 2:04.26, while sophomore Gabrielle McKee (Gilbertsville, Pa.) placed fifth, finishing with a time of 2:05.35. 
 
Junior Caroline Dunigan (Lansdale, Pa.) picked up a second-place finish in the 50 free, touching in with a time of 23.73. Meanwhile, Grau placed sixth (24.23) and Brust finished seventh (25.27). In the 100-yard freestyle race, Dunigan finished sixth with a time of 52.56. Meanwhile, Bunstine placed fourth in the 200 back, touching in with a time of 2:05.12. Schrank placed sixth overall with a time of 2:06.75. 
 
DiBetta returned for the 200-yard breaststroke, finishing second with a time of 2:20.66. Freshman Anna McGrath picked up a third-place finish in the event, finishing with a time of 2:22.09. Freshman Emily Ellsworth finished fifth with a time of 2:23.03. Meanwhile in the 500 free, Fortman earned a four-place finish, touching in at 5:04.34, while Grau finished sixth in 5:06.34. 
 
Brust picked up a victory in the 100 fly, finishing first with a time of 55.07, while Marks placed fourth in 57.20, followed by Hornyak in fifth with a time of 57.51. Then in the 400-yard IM, Croaning finished fifth with a time of 4:29.73, followed by McKee in sixth with a time of 4:31.22. 
 
In the final event of the night, the Ohio 'A' team of Grau, Brust, Fortman and Dunigan finished third in the 400-yard medley relay, finishing the race in 3:30.17. 
 
In diving, senior Sienna Breton (Cheshire, Conn.) placed sixth in the 3-meter dive with a score of 243.25, while senior Halli Siwik (Fishers, Ind.) finished seventh with a score of 231.10. In the 1-meter event, Breton placed seventh with a score of 227.35, while sophomore Sophie Cooper (Milford, Ohio) placed ninth with a score of 210.35. 
 
Up next, Ohio heads to Columbus, Ohio for the 2022 Ohio State Invitational, Nov. 17-19.
