PAW PRINTS: The Week Ahead in Ohio Athletics

ATHENS, Ohio -- It's time to rock and roll in the Convo! The Ohio football team is in Athens for an important MAC East matchup with Buffalo on Tuesday. Then the Ohio men's basketball team is back in the Convo and wrestling opens the 2022-23 season. Check out what's ahead in this week's Paw Prints. 

FOOTBALL

The Ohio football team (5-3, 3-1 MAC) hosts their first midweek MAC game on Tuesday, Nov. 1 when they face off against Buffalo (5-3, 4-0 MAC). Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET at Frank Solich Field at Stadium. The game can be seen on ESPN2 with  Mike Corey and Tom Luginbill on the call with Taylor McGregor on the sideline. 

The Bobcats' matchup can also be heard on the Ohio Sports Network from Learfield. Russ Eisenstein returns for his 15th season as the "Voice of the Bobcats" and will be joined by Ohio alum Rob Cornelius, who has been a part of the broadcasts for two decades.

MEN'S BASKETBALL
Nov. 3  / vs Capital / Convocation Center / Athens, Ohio / 7 p.m. / Live Stats / Tickets 

The Ohio men's basketball team is back in the Convocation Center on. Thursday, Nov. 3 for an exhibition against Capital. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. Per usual, the game will not be streamed due to coaches request. 

The Bobcats are coming off a 25-10 season and a 14-6 mark in conference play. Ohio advanced to the MAC Semifinals and then advanced into the second round of the 2022 CBI in Daytona Beach, Fla. 
 
The Bobcats return six from last season's roster including graduate student forward Dwight Wilson III (Tallahassee, Fla.) who is back after missing last season with a knee injury. Seniors Miles Brown (Rochester, N.Y.) and Ben Roderick (Powell, Ohio) and sophomores AJ Clayton (Roseville, Ohio), IJ Ezuma (Raleigh, N.C.) and Olumide Adelodun (Calgary, Canada) also return for the Green and White. 
 
Ohio welcomes nine newcomers to the roster that includes transfers Jaylin Hunter (Manchester, Conn.), Gabe Wiznitzer (Walhalla, S.C.) and DeVon Baker (Dayton, Ohio). Ohio also adds freshmen AJ Brown (Orlando, Fla.), Ajay Sheldon (Dublin, Ohio), Elmore James (Cleveland, Ohio), Aidan Hadaway (Lafayette, Ga.), Ben Estis (Southlake, Texas) and Quinn Corna (Columbus, Ohio).

VOLLEYBALL

The Ohio volleyball team (16-8, 10-3 MAC) is back in action this week looking to extend its match-winning streak when they head to Toledo, Ohio Nov. 4-5 to take on the Rockets (15-9, 8-5 MAC). The Bobcats and Toledo open play on Friday, Nov. 4 at 6 p.m. inside Savage Arena, before closing the weekend on Saturday, Nov. 5 at 4 p.m. 

Volleyball is coming off a four-set victory over WMU on Friday and a sweep of NIU on Saturday, extending its match win streak to six. 

SWIMMING AND DIVING
Nov. 4  / vs Michigan and Eastern Michigan / Canham Natatorium / Ann Arbor, Mich. / 3 p.m. / Watch / Live Results

The Ohio swimming and diving team is back in action this weekend when they head to Ann Arbor, Mich. for a tri-meet with Michigan and Eastern Michigan. The meet is scheduled for Friday, Nov. 4 at 3 p.m. inside the Canham Natatorium. 

The Bobcats are coming off a commanding 177.5-122.5 victory over Miami last weekend. It was Ohio's first victory over Miami in a dual meet since 2011. 

WRESTLING
Nov. 5  / at Michigan State Open / Jenison Field House / East Lansing, Mich. / 9:30 a.m.

The Ohio wrestling team opens the 2022-23 season on Saturday, Nov. 5 when they head to East Lansing, Mich. for the 2022 Michigan State Open. Competition is set to begin on the mats at 9:30 a.m. and continue on throughout the day.
